Galleries can be the first sight someone notices when coming into your house, so it is important that you spend some time creating a beautiful wall gallery.
Which photos should I choose?
When trying to decide which photos to choose for your wall photo gallery, here are some things to consider:
- Home Décor Color
- The emotion you want to share
- Focal Point (black and white images with a color pop image in the center for attention)
- Mix it up (Individuals of the children, group family pictures etc.)
What size should I print?
You may have to do a little math for this. You want to determine the size of your wall space you plan on placing your gallery of images. Use the largest image as your main focal point such as a 20x30 family picture. From there, surround it with smaller size individual pictures of the kids together, individually, more family moments etc. Sizes such as 16x16, 12x12, 8x8’s OR if you want to mix it up from all being square, you can do 16x20, 11x14, 8x10’s. Some like to keep it simple and do all one size. If you are doing this, again think of your space and be sure to print large enough to fill the space.
How do I design the wall?
When doing this it is all about the style that you want. If you want more uniform, do all one size such as 12x12’s, in a square designed space. If you want more artistic, switch it up and do a variety of sizes and shapes on the wall. Use different frames if you want to. I recommend you size the space, use papers to make the sizes of your images and then place them on the wall by taping them to design it and find the setup that you like best. You can then move them around to your liking until you get just what you want.
Where can I buy frames?
Hobby Lobby is a great place for cute artistic, rustic, bold frames. You can also find simple frames there as well. They always run a 50% off sale on their frames usually once a month. If not, there is always the 40% off coupon on their website which can be used for one item at regular price. Michaels I have found to be good for simple frames. However, they are a little more pricey than Hobby Lobby. Target is another great place for simple frames. Believe it or not, Amazon as well. Check it out and you can find a variety of frames in a variety of styles.
