Where & Why You Should Print Your Pictures

Why Should You Print Your Pictures?

Printing your pictures gives you a physical document that preserves the past. Generations to come can have the physical print in their hands, on their walls or in an album for others to see. When we store images on our hard drives, we tend to forget that they are there, and they don’t get seen as often. Another reason to print, after time, hard drives will invariably fail and die at some point. If you don’t have your images backed up, and they aren’t printed, you have lost a lot of memories. Think about printing all your favorite images, the moments that are the most precious, so that if something terrible does happen, you’ve got a physical version of your memory. Prints also make great wall décor!

What do I do with my Photographic Prints?

I love photo albums. I can recall my Aunt Pat having several of them available out in the open in her family room for anyone to pick up and go through. It was a great way to at anytime you were there to just pick up an album and see the images of times past. I have a basket that I put albums in for others to view our family moments and moments with friends, and we have most of the walls in our home filled with photos. My grandfather’s work is displayed in several places, and my kids and pets are on various walls throughout our home. I just love the feeling I have every time I look at the pictures of my family on my walls.

Where should you print your photographic images?

I feel very strongly about this question. If you need a quick 5x7 print, ok, go to Sams or Walmart. I do not recommend Walgreens as the color is usually way off. However, if you are having an image on your wall in 8x10 print size or larger, you are going to want that color to be exact. For that, I strongly suggest going with the lab that your photographer recommends. Most of the time the photographer’s computers are calibrated to the lab. After that, Mpix, Snapfish or Shutterfly are all good choices for online print orders. If you have to use a store pickup, Sams or CVS is ok however you will notice a color difference.

In conclusion, always consider printing your most favorite images!
