When it comes to getting your picture taken, there are certain things to keep in mind. While you want to showcase the best version of yourself, there are some tips and tricks you can follow to ensure you get photos you’re proud of. These include common tips such as avoiding ultra-bright colors, choosing clothing you feel comfortable in and most of all - avoiding tanning prior to your session.
While lots of us love to have a nice, warm glow when getting professional pictures taken, it’s best to avoid tanning in the days and weeks leading up to your session. Here’s why:
- Tan lines: Nothing ruins a quality photograph quite like tan lines. The sharp contrast between your tan and previous skin tone can throw off your photo, making people focus on your tan lines instead of the overall picture.
- Sunburns: While we all know the dangers associated with tanning, you sometimes end up with a sunburn and there’s nothing you can do about it. Sunburns can cause dry skin and completely change the way you look - resulting in pictures that don’t showcase the real you.
- Streaks and marks: I always advise my clients to stay away from spray tans directly before a session. This is because it often leaves marks and imperfections, making your pictures look funky and off-base. Not to mention the risk of looking orange! If you want to get a spray tan before your session, make sure you get it done several days before the big day.
If you or someone you know is going to have their picture taken, advise them to stay away from tanning in the days and weeks leading up to the session. Book a consultation today to find out more tips and tricks for posing in a photo you'll love.
