Family Traditions:
So, what are your special family traditions? Is it going for a morning family walk? Having a special breakfast? Volunteer at a local food bank or kitchen? Having everyone around the table make a toast? Playing the thankful game? I am sure we could go on and on, but I want to hear your ideas, what does your family do?
My family usually gets together at someone’s house for a massive dinner in the mid to late afternoon. There is always lots of food, drinks, laughter etc. We have a kids table and an adult table full of fun. I make the pecan pies because it’s a family favorite! We always have to have chocolate pies because we are all chocolate lovers at heart. We also take a lot of pictures which is critical to catching those special moments between all of our family members. Life is just too short.
Yummy Food:
What yummy food is on your table?
We have deep fried turkey, smoked turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet mashed potatoes, grandmas dressing (plain and oyster), green bean casserole, brussels sprouts, corn, orange fluff salad, grandmas’ cranberry cups, gravy (of course!) and then whatever else is brought. It is always way too much food and no one goes away hungry. Usually a good nap is needed after dinner.
Why Take pictures on the holiday:
I don’t know about your family, but ours only gets together around special functions including holidays. Life is busy, some live out of town, it’s just hard sometimes to get together right? So, family photos are so important. You never know when that loved one won’t make the next year or you missed that hysterical moment that will make you all laugh for years. It may sometimes seem a bit tedious, but just take them, take a lot of pictures! Print them out. I have an album I love to print and keep photos in because it’s good to have the physical pictures to look back to now and again verses being buried on your computer.
So, I urge you, take pictures, lots!
Lastly:
Enjoy your day! Let me know what you did. I can’t wait to hear about it and all your fun.
